After the Barcelona catastrophe, the survivors have returned to Térmens, Lleida, where they continue to struggle for survival. Things are not going well, as some of the Aeternum, deprived of the body's chemical and biological processes, are slowly slipping into a lifeless state. Juan Aranda knows the community's fate is in danger, and Professor Jukkar asks him to return to Carranque to find a solution to their problems.
