Ariel

Published posthumously in 1964, this is Sylvia Plath's last book of poems and arrived amidst some controversy, as her husband, Ted Hughes, edited the original manuscript, omitting or adding some poems. This divided critics between those who considered it an intrusion and those who understood that Hughes and Plath often collaborated. Finally, in 2004, the complete edition of Ariel, which we now present, was published, featuring the original selection and arrangement of the poems in an illustrated edition. This work is a brilliant example of the great American writer's poetic style, with verses that are alternately brutal and gentle, sharp and caressing.
