A young girl discovers that behind the woman who gazes sternly at her from the dark family portrait lives a red-haired girl, running free through the Cantabrian mountains with her Great Dane. She decides to draw to uncover who that girl was, and who that teenager was who would eventually become one of the greatest thinkers and writers of the 19th century.
