Violette Toussaint is the caretaker of the cemetery in a small Burgundy village. Occasional and regular visitors come to the home of this luminous and kind-hearted woman to escape the cold, share confidences, and find comfort in the coffee she offers, amidst laughter and tears. Her life unfolds to the rhythm of these intimate stories, and her days seem destined to remain this way forever. But suddenly, everything changes. A policeman from Marseille arrives with a strange request: his recently deceased mother had expressed the wish to be buried in that remote village, in the grave of a man he doesn't know. From that moment on, events take an unexpected turn: previously hidden connections between the living and the dead emerge, and some souls that seemed somber are revealed, in reality, to be full of light.
