Blazing combat

In 1965, Archie Goodwin and Jim Warren set out to publish a new comic book series centered on the theme of war. But unlike anything that had come before, its protagonists wouldn't be invincible heroes, nor would the stories be tales of grand victories, honor, and glory. Blazing Combat would depict the horror, suffering, and futility of war. And it would do so through the work of some of the best artists of the time: Joe Orlando, Wally Wood, John Severin, Alex Toth, Russ Heath, Gene Colan, and Frank Frazetta, among others. This vision would be censored by the military and boycotted by wholesalers, self-proclaimed "patriots" who condemned Blazing Combat to oblivion. In this volume, we present a collection of the four issues of Blazing Combat that Goodwin and Warren managed to publish before being forced to cancel the series.
