Ortega promoted the Second Republic in Spain, proclaimed on April 14, 1931, and resumed active politics during the first two years of the new regime, founding, along with Ramón Pérez de Ayala and Gregorio Marañón, the Group in the Service of the Republic. He then compiled his political ideas in "The Redemption of the Provinces and National Decency," published in Revista de Occidente, a book that concludes with his pioneering idea of ​​the "great region," advocating for the organization of Spain into autonomous regions. This edition includes his principal writings related to his participation in the Group from 1931 to 1932, after which he withdrew from politics, and his 1933 essay "In the Name of the Nation, Clarity."
