Twenty years ago, Jack Sawyer traveled to a parallel universe called the Territories to save his mother from death. Now a retired detective, he lives in the small town of Tamarack, Wisconsin. He has no memory of his adventures in the Territories and was forced to leave the force when a strange event threatened to awaken those memories. When a series of murders occurs in western Wisconsin that bear a striking resemblance to those committed decades earlier by Albert Fish, the killer is dubbed "the Fish Man." The local police chief begs Jack to help catch him. But are these new crimes simply the work of a disturbed individual, or has a mysterious and malevolent force been unleashed upon this quiet town? When Jack is drawn back to the Territories, he must find the strength to enter a terrifying house at the edge of a forest and confront the evil lurking within.
