Allegra Dixon had never felt loved. When she was six, her mother left without even saying goodbye. Her father, a military man whom she rarely saw, decided to send her to live with her grandparents, where Allegra grew up in solitude, finding solace only in books. During her years at boarding school, she met a handsome cadet from West Point. They decided to marry, and between missions, they cherished their brief moments together.
