All Iron : Una mujer todo hierro

Two centuries-old stories intertwine in this narrative. The story of Ángeles García in her one hundred and a half years of life, and the story of mining in Biscay during its long one hundred years of operation. One cannot speak of Ángeles without speaking of the mines where she worked for twenty years; and one cannot speak of mining without remembering the countless men and women who worked, fell ill, or died as a result of the unpunished exploitation of the land and of people. Because in this story, there are only people. With the portrait of Ángeles, the author also intended to pay tribute to all the "women of iron"; "courageous mothers" who bear witness that strength, dedication, and skill have no gender; tireless workers whose sacrifice made possible the survival and prosperity of the Biscay mining system.
