Defense attorney Mickey Haller is recruited by the prosecution for the conviction review trial of a child's killer. After 24 years in prison, convicted murderer Jason Jessup has been exonerated by new DNA evidence. Haller is convinced Jessup is guilty and accepts the case on the condition that he can choose his lead investigator, LAPD Detective Harry Bosch. Together, Bosch and Haller embark on a case fraught with political and personal dangers. They face Jessup, now free on bail, a defense attorney who excels at manipulating the media, and a fugitive witness who refuses to testify after so many years. With the odds stacked against them, Bosch and Haller must catch a sadistic killer once and for all. If there's one thing Bosch is certain of, it's that Jason Jessup is planning to kill again.
