In postwar Yokohama, once-successful screenwriter Kei Kitahara has decided to stop writing because everyone he used as a model for his characters ended up suffering terrible misfortunes. He simply awaits death... But one day, a reason to keep living appears. It's Yoichi, who rescues a drunken Kei from the streets and takes him in at the brothel where he lives. Kei can't resist Yoichi's innocence and charm, and he desperately wants to write about him... Though he vows that, no matter what happens or what he has to sacrifice, he will never let Yoichi fall victim to misfortune.
