Confined to her apartment and mired in an identity crisis, the narrator of this novel proofreads science fiction manuscripts for a publishing house, accompanied by Averroes, a philosophical dog who seems to have traveled through centuries to accidentally end up in her living room and keep her company. One day, she receives a message from SamuelPearce: a user, an AI, or perhaps a scam. His messages —a mixture of transhumanism and veiled threats— sweep her into such a state of amorous frenzy that she decides to abandon her mundane life and pursue him across cyberspace. As their compulsive relationship progresses, SamuelPearce becomes a kind of digital guru, introducing her to a universe of mystical platforms, crypto-capitalist rhetoric, and self-improvement speeches. In her quest, accompanied by Averroes, the protagonist embarks on a pilgrimage to an uncertain and mythical territory, where the future seems to have already been programmed and the decisions made.
