Madrid, early 20th century. Juan Enrique Halderg, Baron of Nhorres, falls in love with Adelina, wife of Dr. Riaza, who tortures her day and night in the sanatorium where they live as punishment for his own impotence. The lovers soon plot the doctor's "accidental" death. It's the perfect crime. But they hadn't counted on the return of "the Other." Riaza's specter, initially an invisible presence, begins to haunt his widow's nights, subjecting her to all manner of sexual pleasures and poisoning the relationship of the terrified lovers. Sinister and inexplicable events plague them, transforming the deceased into an obsession for Nhorres and Adelina, trapped in a web of mysteries. They don't know whether to attribute their predicament to their guilty consciences or to being truly under the control of the dead man, determined to exact his revenge.
