Most began in publishing houses and agencies working for national publications, but they made the leap to international success thanks to the more lucrative commissions that came from abroad. A fascinating paradox emerged at that time. Many achieved fame beyond our borders while remaining anonymous professionals in Spain. One of the most renowned was Manuel Prieto Muriana, who, from his studio in Madrid, created striking covers for detective novels, spy thrillers, horror stories, and, above all, Westerns.
