El libro de los muertos tibetano

The Tibetan Book of the Dead (also known as the Bardo Thodol, or Liberation by Hearing in the Intermediate State) is the eschatological treatise that most accurately describes all the phenomena we will encounter after death. Based on the doctrine of the "intermediate state," this important work of universal religious literature, discovered in the 13th century, maintains that after death, all people are drawn into a vortex of terrifying visions and sensations that are the result and manifestation of their final karma. To encourage the deceased to remember the truth of this doctrine, whose teachings they will have received and practiced in life, the instructions contained in this book are read to them. According to Tibetan hermeneutics, it is through this reading that the deceased are helped to orient themselves during the intermediate state, the period between the agony preceding death and either a new rebirth or ultimate spiritual enlightenment.
