Nobuki, the middle child of the Niré family, lives a happy life with his wife and two young daughters. The news that they are expecting a third child brings even more joy to this sweet existence, in which Nobuki balances family life with his work and his passion for classical guitar. The only thing that casts a shadow over his days is his mother Fujiko's Alzheimer's: the disease has progressed so rapidly that she no longer recognizes even her own son. Suddenly, one day, in the drawer of his old desk, which he has kept with affection since childhood, Nobuki discovers a personal diary. It belongs to his mother. As he begins to read it, he understands that she felt the need to record everything she feared forgetting when her memory began to fail: her daily life, her best memories, but also her anger and buried fears. Nobuki will thus discover a woman, his own mother, who, now that she can no longer tell him her life story aloud, will do so through the written word.
