Biblioteca del botánico

A work that brings together the most historically significant books on botanical science and its impact on civilization. Through beautiful illustrations, the book chronicles the evolution of botany via seminal texts and manuscripts, exploring shifting attitudes, approaches, knowledge, and resources over the centuries. Tracing the journey from ancient botanical knowledge in Egypt, India, Greece, and China—as well as the influence of Islamic science and the European Renaissance—the narrative moves on to examine illustrated herbals and the impact of the printing press, Linnaeus’s classification system, the "golden age" of botany in the 18th and 19th centuries, and the subsequent transition to the cutting-edge plant science that underpins modern botanical education.
