Una novela de Project Itoh, una de las voces más originales de la ciencia ficción japonesa.
In a dystopian future, humanity has achieved a utopia thanks to medical nanotechnology and an ethic of social welfare and mutual consideration. However, this apparent perfection masks a totalitarian control. The story follows Tuan Kirie, an agent of the World Health Organization, who investigates a series of mass suicides that defy the system. The plot alternates between Tuan's present and past, revealing her troubled adolescence and her friendship with Miach Mihie, a charismatic girl who opposes the regime. Miach convinces Tuan and another friend, Cian, to attempt suicide as an act of rebellion. Although Tuan survives, Miach dies, leaving a profound mark on her life. As Tuan investigates, she discovers that Miach is alive and has been orchestrating the mass suicides as part of a plan to liberate humanity from the oppressive control of the system. Miach believes that true freedom can only be achieved by destroying the imposed utopia. Ultimately, Tuan faces a moral dilemma: follow his superiors' orders or join Miach in his fight against the system. The story culminates in a confrontation that tests Tuan's beliefs and loyalties, questioning whether utopia is worth the price of individual freedom.
