Korea, 1929. In the capital, then called Gyeongsung, Japan imposes the law of the occupier at the same time as the first influences of "modern" Western culture arrive. Arisa Jo, daughter of a wealthy merchant, and Jun Seomoon, young heir to a disgraced nobility, will embody these opposing influences and the violent internal conflicts they awaken in every Korean.
