Eunice Paiva was a woman of many lives. Married to the Brazilian deputy Rubens Paiva, she was at his side when he was dismissed and exiled in 1964. Mother of five children, she had to raise them alone since 1971, when her husband was arrested, tortured and murdered by agents of the military dictatorship. He reinvented himself in the midst of pain. She returned to study, and became a lawyer and defender of indigenous rights, and even advised the Government of Brazil and institutions as prestigious as the United Nations.
