Decorado Art Book

The *Decorado* Art Book offers a journey through the creative process and graphic development of the new film directed by Alberto Vázquez. The project originated from the short film of the same name—winner of the 2017 Goya Award for Best Animated Short—and is set to premiere in theaters across Spain on October 24, following a screening at the Sitges Film Festival between October 9 and 19. The art book features texts by some of the production's lead actors alongside material from the original short film, storyboards, layouts, character designs, color scripts, artwork, and props, as well as final images from the movie. In addition to the Galician filmmaker, the hundreds of people who shaped this film include prominent figures from the comic book world, such as Art Director José Luis Ágreda, Character Design Director Albert Monteys, and Lighting Supervisor Martín Romero, as well as other illustrators like Ed Carosia (who also designed this meticulously crafted art book), Pablo Velarde, José Domingo, Alex Orbe, Jorge Monlongo, and Anabel Colazo. *Decorado* reflects the existential struggle of Arnold and María, a couple of ordinary mice trapped in the mediocrity of a superficial world controlled by a megacorporation called ALMA. This entity manufactures and dominates absolutely everything—"as if Google, Amazon, and Monsanto had merged into a single entity," notes Alberto Vázquez. Arnold faces a multifaceted crisis—existential, professional, emotional, and romantic—and his personal battle against this prefabricated society shapes his quest for freedom.
