Los crímenes de la isla de Ouessant (Comisario Dupin, 13)

At the westernmost tip of Brittany, at the mercy of the elemental forces of the Atlantic Ocean, lies the beautiful, wild, and verdant island of Ouessant. Just before the celebration of the most important Celtic music festival of the year, the body of a poor musician is found drowned. A wax cross on his pillow, reminiscent of an ancient and obscure island ritual, is a clear indication that his death could not have been accidental. Dupin is assigned to the case by the Prefect, but a group of women who live somewhat outside the norms and who have grasped the importance of the unseen make things difficult for the inspector. The discovery of two more drownings and the disappearance of some valuables convince Dupin that a murderer is threatening the peace of the island.
