Cristiano en el Partido, comunista en la Iglesia : Obra escogida

Despite his premature death at the age of 46, Alfonso Carlos ComÃn left an indelible mark on progressive Christians and communist activists, and on the Catalan and Spanish left in general. Born into a Carlist family, he transcended this heritage by living his religious faith radically, based on an open and critical reading of the Gospel message that sought to reclaim its original meaning. A thread links his faith in a God made Man with the conviction that this faith can only be lived by striving to improve the realities of human existence, fighting for justice, equality, and fraternity. This amounts to political struggle, and more specifically, to the struggle for socialism. This book brings together, for the first time, an anthology of Alfonso ComÃn's writings and aims to offer, in an accessible way, a comprehensive overview of his thought and career, including, in addition to his numerous books, personal letters, poems, and accounts of his years in Andalusia and his time in Franco's prisons. His activism in left-wing parties, from his youth until the end of his life, and his struggle to ensure that Marxist Christians could openly live both their religious faith and their political activism led him, on the one hand, to advocate for the secular nature of communist parties and to demand their commitment to democratic freedoms, and on the other hand, to defend the ideological pluralism of believers within the Church. His intellectual passion was also reflected in his work as an editor and teacher.
