El club de las modernas

Una apasionante investigación sobre el Lyceum Club, la primera asociación feminista de España, en el centenario de su creación.
In 1926, at the height of Primo de Rivera's dictatorship, a group of women decided to shake the foundations of a society that wanted them confined to the home. Defying tradition, they founded the Lyceum Club Femenino in Madrid: a space of their own where nearly five hundred members worked for equality and access to culture until the Civil War cut their efforts short. Considered the first feminist association in Spain, its halls were used to discuss women's suffrage, promote initiatives such as the Casa de los Niños (Children's Home) and the Comité del Libro para el Ciego (Book Committee for the Blind), and build bridges between women of different ideologies.
