In 2012, the discovery of skeletal remains in the ruins of Empúries shocks the coastal town of L’Escala. They are not at all what one would expect from a Greek archaeological site. Shortly afterward, a second body is also found. Alex Sabell, one of the agents in charge of the investigation, is unexpectedly caught in a nightmare centered on a lie that seems to have taken root within her own family. The best of the crime genre and historical fiction are masterfully combined in this addictive and meticulous narrative, in which present and past intertwine in a plot as unsettling as it is hypnotic.
