Viajes y flores

Imaginary journeys and invented flowers are the trappings Rodoreda dons at the height of her literary maturity. Published in 1980 and winner of the Serra d’Or Critics' Prize and the City of Barcelona Prize, this work comprises two collections of stories: "Journeys to a Few Villages," nineteen stories written during her stay in Romanyà de la Selva; and "True Flowers," a collection of thirty-eight short pieces written in Geneva. Together, they offer a refined example of the author's narrative style, in which she recreates the impulses of life and the human condition, sometimes with humor, sometimes with starkness, never forgetting its grandeur nor concealing its pettiness, but always with a carefully crafted simplicity, combining inventive force and lyrical power, and a poetic voice of irresistible magnetism.
