In 1992, in the Arroa Goia cemetery, some thirty people surround the grave where stone lifter and boxer José Manuel Ibar Azpiazu (Urtain) is to be buried. His life ended in suicide, perhaps because he couldn't bear the weight of a public persona that ultimately consumed him. His tragic end brings to the surface an episode from the past —the brutal death of an ox near a nearby mill— that connects several characters and leaves a wound that is difficult to heal.
In 2017, in that same place, a diverse crowd attends the burial of Guillermo, known as the Tyrolean, the man who hated Urtain, an flamboyant figure associated with the nightlife and the margins of society. The intrigue surrounding the true cause of his death reveals a degraded social environment. The mill, which he owned in his later years, seems to hold secrets: once again, the past intrudes upon the present. Twenty-five years later, in 2042, a circle of people gathers around the tomb of Pedro, the artist who loved Urtain and rescued the mill from squalor, in Arroa Goia.
Uzariel, an immaterial being who sees and hears all, a military angel who, along with his companions, possesses a special language and an irreverent sense of humor, narrates this story, told in three parts—a masterful tale of friendship, sex, and silences that spans decades and shapes the lives of its protagonists.
