In the bar he runs, Manuel Benítez is surprised by a visit from an old acquaintance, Judge Ramón María Zaldívar, who sentenced him to prison many years ago. Now retired, the judge wants to know how Manuel is doing after that 1975 sentence, handed down without evidence, for the theft of a car and the subsequent robbery. Those events marked Manuel's life: he married Paula, the young lawyer from the neighborhood who lost the case but visited him compassionately in prison, helped him rebuild his life in the neighborhood, and supported him through his darkest times. Zaldívar, meanwhile, is retired, widowed, and estranged from his daughter… What is the purpose of this strange reunion?
