The year is 1920. We find ourselves in the house of an old, remote farm in Provence, home to the reclusive painter Edouard Tartuffe and his niece Ettie. Joseph, a young journalist, arrives at this strange and silent house hoping to write an article about Tartuffe. But the more he becomes involved in the life of this peculiar family, the greater his curiosity grows. Ettie cooks and cleans for her uncle, prepares his studio, organizes his brushes, and creates the perfect environment for him to concentrate solely on painting. The young woman has never left the village where they live. She is observant and attentive, but beneath that serene exterior, Joseph senses something simmering beneath the surface. Ettie, Joseph, and Tartuffe challenge each other and try to understand one another throughout the sunny, scorching summer, until finally their lives collide... and the world burns.
