El leopardo de las nieves

In the autumn of 1973, writer Peter Matthiessen and zoologist George Schaller embarked on an expedition to Crystal Mountain, on the Tibetan Plateau, to study the habits of a little-known animal: the bharal, or Himalayan blue sheep. But their true hope was to see the most beautiful and rare of the big cats: the snow leopard. For Matthiessen, venturing into the land of Dolpo would mean much more than a naturalist expedition or an adventure. It would mean shedding the comforts and constraints of civilization, living alongside people and landscapes in their most elemental beauty, and walking the paths of Buddhism and Zen.
