Words matter because they influence how we understand the world around us. Similarly, being neurodivergent presents significant challenges, because it's not easy to meet the expectations of a world designed for others and, therefore, demanding needs that must be met. Doubly exceptional individuals (with both giftedness and autism) process information differently, but this doesn't mean they have a disorder, nor are they better or worse than anyone else. This book is for them, and it's also for other neurodivergent people (especially those diagnosed with ADHD, but not exclusively), because we have far more in common than what separates us. We will discover their strengths, their challenges, and how this way of being and existing in the world influences all aspects of communication. Of course, it's also intended for families, professionals, people connected to neurodivergence in one way or another, and finally (hopefully!), anyone who wants to look beyond the stereotypes, which are certainly numerous. María Gómez, a pedagogue specializing in the subject, and Mamen Horno, a psycholinguist who has been working on conceptualization and communication in autism and a highly capable autistic person, write from experience with the aim of building bridges so that our society begins to be a less hostile place for those who think and act differently.
