Un largo camino

Zanzibar, the 1990s. Karim, Fauzia, and Badar—three young people raised in vastly different environments—dream of the vast possibilities awaiting their nascent nation. Karim returns to his quiet hometown with renewed energy and ambition after completing his university studies. Fauzia, passionate about education and dreaming of becoming a teacher, sees in him a chance to escape a stifling upbringing. For Badar, however—an uneducated servant who never knew his parents—every door seems closed. Employed at a grand residence in Dar es-Salaam, Badar finds his first true home there and, above all, the friendship of Karim, the heir to the household. Even when an accusation of theft forces him to leave, Karim and Fauzia refuse to abandon their friend. Their bond is put to the test as the three navigate their first experiences with love, work, and parenthood.
