Rojo

This is what the protagonist of this story keeps repeating to himself. Conrado Rojo Rojo has survived the war safe and sound in an administrative post for the Nationalist side. However, now he must begin working in a prison camp where the defeated Republicans are serving their sentences. On the day of his arrival, Conrado witnesses an abuse of power that ends in tragedy. In that instant, he understands that his new responsibilities are fraught with contradictions and dangers, both from the guards and the unfortunate inmates. A sadistic colonel, a delusional escape plan, and a unique character determined to do good despite his increasingly sinister surroundings, come together in a splendid tragicomedy. It's a glimpse into the most authentic, and at the same time most surreal, side of the early years of the dictatorship, when Spain was divided between victors and vanquished.
