¿Por qué los peces no tienen lengua? (Gruñito)

Gruñito the bear wakes up from a nap under a tree wishing he were something else: a leafy beech tree with cool, refreshing leaves instead of fur; a bee flying through the meadow, free to taste as much honey as he pleases; or perhaps a carp in the stream, forever playing in the cool water, never forced by its parents to wash up after getting dirty. But Gruñito’s attempts to transform into something he is not don't quite work out. He cannot fly like a bee, and—as a carp explains to him—being a carp would require too many sacrifices. He would have to shed his fur forever and swim naked in the river; he would lose his arms and legs; and he would have to keep his eyes open at all times—even while sleeping—without blinking once. What terrifies Gruñito most, however, is the thought of losing his tongue—something carp do not have. Better, then, to be able to taste honey and have arms to hug Mama. Better, ultimately, to be happy being a bear.
