Novelas cortas

This volume, selected and translated by Víctor Gallego, brings together nine novellas by Ivan S. Turgenev, written between 1850 and 1869. Among them are some classic works, but most are little known or previously unpublished in Spanish: "Diary of a Superfluous Man," "Three Encounters," "Two Friends," "A Haven of Peace," "Yakov Pasinkov," "Faust," "Asia," "First Love," and "An Unfortunate Woman." Turgenev, one of the great masters of Russian literature, found in this genre an ideal medium for exploring intimacy. Freed from the political concerns of his novels, he was able to study the social order more freely from another angle: that of subjectivity and, especially, that of love.
