Ciudad de Jade

Jade is the lifeblood of Kekon Island. It has been mined, traded, stolen, and fought over. And for centuries, the honorable Green Bones warriors—warriors like the Kaul family—have used it to enhance their magical abilities and defend the island from foreign invasions. Now, the war is over, and a new generation of the family fights for control of Kekon's bustling capital. Their only concerns are protecting their own, controlling the jade trade, and defending the districts under their protection. Ancient traditions have little place in this nation marked by rapid and relentless change. When a new drug emerges that allows anyone, even foreigners, to use jade, tensions between the Kauls and a rival family, the Ayt, reach such a boiling point that open warfare erupts.
