On her twenty-seventh birthday, Cristina, a promising, somewhat vain and snobbish New York lawyer, receives two rings. The first, a large diamond engagement ring, is from her boyfriend, a wealthy stockbroker, while the other, a mysterious antique ring with a blood-red ruby, comes from an anonymous sender. She accepts both, unaware that the second ring will draw her into an adventure that will teach her about life, love, and death, giving her an unforgettable lesson that will forever change her destiny and her worldview. Cristina begins her journey in Barcelona along the Mediterranean coast, returning to her own past and to another much more distant one: the tragic fate of the last of the Templars.
