London, 1936. The Munar sisters leave behind the island of Mallorca and the Civil War to move to the vibrant English capital. At a time when anything seems possible, both come of age: Petra dreams of attending university, while Cati—the more adventurous of the two—pursues her ambition to become a pilot. When the Second World War breaks out, the sound of German bombs and a tragic loss drive them to join the war effort. While Petra begins working for British Intelligence, Cati enlists in the controversial women's section of the Air Transport Auxiliary; from the skies, she watches a Europe burn—a Europe that will never be the same again.
