According to the traditional narrative, Christianity emerged in its fully formed form from the preaching of Jesus of Nazareth, whose unaltered message crystallized centuries later in the Church. However, historical evidence reveals a very different reality. After Jesus' death, diverse communities of believers proliferated, with very different approaches, beliefs, objectives, and affiliations. It would take more than two centuries for one of these multiple Christianities to eventually prevail over the others, institutionalizing its particular version as the only one. The purpose of this book is to offer a rigorous and well-documented view of those early years of Christianity's existence.
