It's been a year since Sally married her beloved Jack Skelleton and assumed her role as queen of Halloween Town. But even with Jack by her side, ruling isn't easy, and Sally feels uncertain about her future. Her heart is torn between royal duties, her new family, and her desire to unite the citizens of all the Hinterland lands. Suddenly, a simple potion-making demonstration during Sally's inaugural Halloween Showcase goes horribly wrong, and everything quickly falls apart: Sally and her new rag doll apprentice, Luna, fall through a mysterious portal that transports them to a new realm called Time City. They soon discover that someone has tampered with the clock that controls Halloween Town, so Sally can't return to the present-day version of her home unless she finds the culprit and resets time. Sally and Luna embark on a journey to uncover the truth, encountering new peoples, friends, and enemies along the way. But time is running out, and as Sally fights to save Jack and her home, she wonders what kind of future she truly wants... and what she'll have to sacrifice to get it.
