Aguas muertas

The body of a journalist is found on a traditional Shetland boat. No one knows who left it there. The victim is Jerry Markham, a journalist born in the islands who had been living in London for years. Detective Inspector Willow Reeves arrives from Inverness to lead the investigation. Since the death of his fiancée, Detective Inspector Jimmy Perez has stayed away from work, but this new case sparks his interest, and he decides to assist with the investigation. Markham had returned to Shetland without making his reasons entirely clear. His parents believe he was preparing a major report on the North Sea oil and gas industry, whereas his boss insists he was on vacation. To unravel the mystery, Willow and Perez must piece together his final days and delve into a web of old relationships, secrets, and grudges that many would prefer to keep buried. For in a community as small as Shetland, the past is never far behind.
