Barcelona, ​​the early 1950s. In a city defined by the postwar era and silence, Laureano Castañeda—a former police inspector and veteran of the Blue Division—leaves the force to reinvent himself as a private investigator. His first assignment, commissioned by publisher Francisco Bruguera, confronts him with a disturbing crime: a man has been found murdered in a quarry, having been thrown into the void with numbers marked on his chest. Yet what initially appears to be a routine case soon grows complicated. The victim—ostensibly a mute market gardener—was living under a false identity, drawing Castañeda into an investigation where the tensions of a working-class neighborhood, the echoes of Francoist repression, and a dark past all intertwine.
