Elsa. The Oesterheld Legacy is a tribute to the Oesterheld family, based on the firsthand testimony of one of the few surviving members. In these pages, Elsa recounts her meeting with Héctor, their decision to start a family, her husband's dedication to writing, which led him to become one of Argentina's greatest comic book writers and authors, the political commitment of Héctor and his daughters, and, finally, the disappearance of all of them, as well as their sons-in-law and two of their four grandchildren. The memory of such cruelty haunts Elsa, but so does her thirst for justice. Because justice may be an inexhaustible aspiration, but life demands a kind of strength that relies on the unwavering determination to keep naming those who are gone, thus preventing grief from consuming everything. Elsa Sánchez was a human rights activist and member of the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo for many decades, until her death in 2015.
