Journal with Witch, 1

Makio Kōdai is a 35-year-old novelist who dislikes social interaction. Asa Takumi is her 15-year-old niece, orphaned after her parents died in a car accident. Although Makio had a strained relationship with Asa's mother, she takes her in after becoming frustrated with the way the rest of the family treats her, considering her a burden. They soon begin living together, and although Asa's outgoing personality clashes with Makio's reserved nature, they adjust to their new life together as Asa copes with her grief and Makio attempts to socialize for the first time in years. Following Makio's suggestion, Asa begins writing a diary about her daily life and feelings.
