Galornus Prime—High Lord of Demons, Scourge of Nations, End of Hope, and Master of the Seven Deadly Sins—has run out of titles to collect. Weary of repeating the same cycle over and over, he has devised the perfect retirement plan: acquire a goat and settle down to run a farm in peace (and, if possible, without accidentally conquering anything). His plans certainly didn't include soul-sucking neighborhood association meetings, combat classes for children, or the toughest adversary he has ever faced: his seventy-three-year-old neighbor, an expert at growing roses and getting under his skin. However, when his insufferably friendly neighbors find themselves threatened by ambitious merchants and corrupt officials, Galornus faces an unexpected challenge: saving the village without anyone discovering that he is the very monster from the bedtime stories used to terrify children.
