Cuentos de Machado de Assis

Machado de Assis (Rio de Janeiro, 1839-1908) is one of Brazil's most important authors. Although he wrote in all genres (novels, poetry, essays), he excelled above all in the short story, writing some two hundred stories. In this anthology, we present stories from his most significant creative periods, in which his intelligence and irony are evident.
