Two men meet in a chat room looking for sex. One wants to become HIV-positive; the other promises to give it to him. And what begins as a casual encounter transforms into a committed relationship. The story weaves a tale in which the everyday gives way to a web of lies, marked by desire and the fear of loss. The narrator's words constitute a belated exercise in honesty, seeking to understand and to understand himself, while simultaneously exploring universal themes such as grief and guilt. The book traces "a black ink drawing" of the lover, "forgetting that clouds and clear days exist." And in that drawing, art and literature converse: elements that, along with memory and a guilty conscience, paint a portrait of the present.
