Orgullo y prejuicio

The Bennet family has five daughters of marriageable age, ranging from 15 to 23. Securing good marriages for them is the only hope the mother can cling to, knowing that her daughters will lose their meager fortune upon their parents' death. The arrival of a young and wealthy landowner, Charles Bingley, stirs up the small society of suitors. He is accompanied by Fitzwilliam Darcy, who quickly gains a reputation for being aloof and unfriendly. The presence of these two young men unleashes a torrent of passions that also engulfs Elizabeth Bennet, the second daughter of the family, an independent, bookish, and unconventional young woman.
