Borges

Towards the end of 1931, Jorge Luis Borges (1899-1986) and Adolfo Bioy Casares (1914-1999) began one of the most fruitful friendships in the history of literature. From 1947 onward, Bioy himself began to meticulously record the "endless, impassioned conversations" that the two would maintain almost daily for more than forty years. The fruit of this patient labor was Borges, a singular work due to the richness of its observations, the breadth of its references, and the spontaneity of its dialogues, indispensable for understanding not only Borges's personality and work, but also a significant part of the intellectual life of Argentina during his time.
