El nuevo y esperado caso de Petra Delicado. La inspectora de policía pionera de la novela negra española
The body of a Jesuit priest is found murdered in the troubled Barcelona neighborhood of La Mina. He worked as a social worker at a parish center, providing spiritual guidance to troubled youth. The unusual nature of the crime stirs up considerable controversy. Given that the victim was a member of the Church, calls for caution and discretion quickly emerged in the investigation. Inspector Petra Delicado and Sub-Inspector Fermín Garzón were assigned to lead the inquiry. The autopsy revealed that the Jesuit was an alcoholic, a significant and unusual detail. Initial suspicion fell on the more quarrelsome young men who attended his classes, but the case began to unfold in unexpected and complex ways. Petra and Garzón had never faced a more arduous, intricate, or seemingly inexplicable case. To make matters worse, the inspector was not at her best. She's coping as best she can with the grief of her recently deceased husband. Her subordinate and friend tries to help her with good intentions but little success. The investigation is fraught with uncertainty and sudden twists and turns. Perhaps the future of the two police officers depends on how well they manage to bring such a sinister affair to a close.
